Jamie Lidell is JIM - part 3
the thrilling conclusion to the epic trilogy...

It always feels good to arrive at a certain destination after a long journey, whilst simultaneously knowing that a new chapter has just opened. For George Evelyn aka E.a.s.e., the force behind trailblazing leftfield act Nightmares On Wax, things have come full circle.
This new album was inspired by a special journey from Evelyn’s birthplace of Leeds to his new family home located right in the middle of Ibiza. Instead of shipping all his studio equipment by boat, E.a.s.e. rose to the challenge of writing some music on a unique roadtrip. By bringing the gear, a decent sound engineer and the N.O.W. live band members in camper vans on the long journey from the UK to the Balears and with a setting that readily provided inspiration, the rapport in exchanging ideas was instant, and thus the concept of "thought so..“ arrived, from the process itself.
"I remember quite a bunch of great moments on that road trip as if it was yesterday“ Evelyn recalls. "We would stop at any sight or landscape view that promised some sort of inspiration really, allowing us all the freedom to just dwell in that moment and emotion we found ourselves in, only to get inspired by the resulting feelings.“

Originally formed in late nineties Australia, Pivot have until recently remained hidden from the international radar. With their first album released in 2005 (the locally acclaimed ‘Make Me Love You’) multi-instrumentalist brothers Laurenz and Richard Pike sensed it was time for new things. The addition of Perth born/London-based Dave Miller in 2006, and the subsequent departure of the original line up, sparked a period of intense creative activity, resulting in a new band, a new album and dreams of the beyond….
Cinematic in feel and progression, Nothing Hurts Machine starts in one place and ends in another through a series of seamless and driving changes. Echoes of Vangelis slip in-between post-punk propelling guitar riffs and glitchy sample-tweaking. Lush, Jarre-esque pads drone beneath sparse drums and programmed ticks, while a lead melody wanders in and out of the atmospherics. We hope you enjoy this premiere, and stay tuned - there will be more to ingest as we get closer to the release of O Soundtrack My Heart.

Warp's latest (and first Australian) signing, Pivot, are here with a new music video that you might not see broadcast during prime-time hours. Shark attacks, blood and guts, and puppetry, all set to ominous synth drones and propelled by a driving bassline, promise that Pivot isn't really utilizing the subtle approach. If the promise of gore hasn't enticed you, did I mention that the director fractured his shoulder and covered his house in blood for the shoot? That's pretty hardcore. Pivot's "In The Blood" EP will be released on May 19th - keep a lookout on warpmart, bleep, and your local record store. Enjoy the premiere of Pivot's "In The Blood":

we're almost halfway through may, already - can you believe it? here at the warp US office, that mostly means we'll spend a little more time looking out the window, wishing we could be outside... but fortunately, it also means we're that much closer to the new Flying Lotus album, Los Angeles. at least we can be listening to this while we're indoors. ...it's almost like summer lovin' - and definitely less dramatic. try out RobteraFlack - one of the more deep cruisers on the album - and my personal jam of the moment.

it's been just over a week since JIM touched down, and we hope it's just the beginning of a long, healthy relationship for everyone who's found themselves listening. the long days of summer are just around the corner, and we can't think of a better way to spend them than with an exclusive Jamie jam for all our rcrdlbl friends. enjoy the LA Garage mix of Little Bit of Feel Good, and don't forget there's plenty more where that came from - JIM is available at your local record store, as well as warpmart, bleep, amazon, and itunes.
