DOWNLOAD: Streetlab - She Is Our Music (feat. Kaia of Mixel Pixel)

After tearing up the Apple Store a few weeks ago with Beatles remixes, RCRD LBL-signed New York duo Streetlab are back with this new one, "She Is My Music," featuring Kaia of Mixel Pixel. They're two aren't straying far from there usual mix of bang-your-head beats, but there's one particular synth line in here that sounds like Nickelodeon Gak being pushed through a straw and that really caught our attention. Streetlab plays at the new 92Y Tribeca on Friday.

DOWNLOAD: Dutchess - On The Stoop + Westfalia + White Piano
Brooklyn's Dutchess count original Les Savy Fav guitarist Gibb Slife amongst their ranks, though the trio thrash around a lot less cluttered garage than the borough titans. We're always game for dime store fuzz pedals and drums that sound like they've been thrown down some stairs, but add a very blithe female singer to the equation and our interest is more than piqued. These three tracks–released through our in-house digital label and produced by Damian and Tim from OK GO–are anti-macho garage pop gems, more than worth their weight in fuzz. Pick them up via the links below and also peep the video for "White Piano," directed by drummer Tim McConville.

DOWNLOAD: Evan Voytas - I Have A Dream In My Heart + Getting Higher
.jpg)
After mellowing the winter chill back in January, L.A. popster Evan Voytas is back in our sights with two tracks from his upcoming EP, The New Dynamic Sound Of Evan Voytas, which we're previewing through our in-house digital label. Third person shout-outs are always a bit weird, but the record's title holds water because it's actually true: the drums are thicker, the synths are spongier, and overall things sound a bit louder. "I Have A Dream In My Heart" and "Getting Higher" are every bit as floaty as their titles suggest, like someone shot the Cocteau Twins with a potato gun full of echinacea tablets. Don't sleep. L.A. readers, you can find Voytas playing at the Echo Curio tomorrow night.

DOWNLOAD: Magic Wands - Black Magic

Now that the phrase "We met on internet" isn't so taboo, it's cool to see some successful projects arise from people that got together on the web. Such is the story of Magic Wands, a nomadic M/F duo whose mutual MySpace appreciation led to the formation of a band in 2007. Their bluesy gutter-pop--indebted to The Kills but far less entrenched in leather--has had them on stages alongside Black Kids, The Virgins and CSS and in the studio with producer John Hill, who worked on a large chunk of Santigold's debut LP. We've picked up their single "Black Magic" for our in-house digital label; grab that below and keep an eye out for their Magic, Love, and Dreams EP, dropping soon through Bright Antenna. Also catch the group out on tour till the end of May, dates on their MySpace.

DOWNLOAD: The Spolkestra - Open Arms + We're Not The Only Ones

The story surrounding UK-based The Spolkestra is rather confusing. Born from a Scottish artist collective known as Transgressive North, the self-dubbed "punk orchestra" is led by trained composers Jamie Chambers and Duncan Strachan but extends to over fifteen members, who all contribute ideas, thoughts, and instrumentation to the project. They call their sound a "multicolour art-pop explosion" and that's not entirely far off: songs birthed on acoustic guitars are transformed into sprawling, indulgent excursions where strings, woodwinds, drums, and voices gladly fall all over themselves. The group is currently prepping their debut album Everything Is New, which promises guest appearances from Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Owen Pallet (Final Fantasy), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter/Atlas Sound), and a one Jarvis Cocker (you know, that dude from Pulp). Before the album, though, they'll release the four-track Open Arms EP on May 4th, which we'll be previewing in two parts through our in-house digital label. You'll find the first two available tracks below, the delightfully bright and Dirty Projectors-ish "Open Arms" and the more classically "orchestral" "We're Not The Only Ones."

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Actress - Dress It Up In Stereo EP

With a backstory that rivals the Kings Of Leon and a sound bred from David Bowie, T. Rex, and Depeche Mode obsessions, Hollywood duo Actress are the antidote to your waning faith in arena-sized dance-rock (seriously B-Flo, get rid of those wings). Born to a pair of "nomadic gospel singers," brothers Aaron and JoshFicchi formed the band in Chatanooga, TN before making the jump to L.A., an inarguably better base for a pair of guys making bombastic new wave. We've picked them up for our in-house digital label and are excited to be releasing their Dress It Up In Stereo EP today, four tracks of glitzy, ambitious hooks smeared with Casio sheen and anchored by a thankfully huge drum sound. Big drums are cool again! Grab all of the tracks below and follow the band on Twitter right here.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: The Static Jacks - Fire On The Bridge And In The Tunnel Below (RAC Maury Remix)

(Photo: Ali Donohue)
More sounds from fresh-faced Jersey quintet The Static Jacks, who've turned to the Remix Artist Collective's Andrew Maury for a version of their tune "Fire On The Bridge And In The Tunnel Below." Maury's cut up his own tick-tocking electro rhythms on this one, pinching in a bit of slinky Joostice bass to pad the lead vocal, which remains untouched and front and center. Get you DL on below and if you're in New York and headed to the sold-out Blind Pilot/Broken West show at the Mercury Lounge tomorrow, get there early. The Jacks go on at 7:30. Flyer after the jump.

FEATURED: RCRD LBL Artists In Tap Tap Revenge 2.0!

Those familiar with the iPhone have probably heard of Tap Tap Revenge, the Guitar Hero-like rhythm game that's been one of the most popular applications for Apple's mobile platform. Both Nine Inch Nails and Weezer put out custom versions last year, and this week developers Tapulous released Tap Tap Revenge 2.0, a second, updated incarnation featuring more than a handful of RCRD LBL artists amongst its 150 playable tracks. Kid Sister, SKEW, Thieves Like Us, Crayonsmith, Time Machine, Pop Noir, Streelab, Meanest Man Contest, Lemonade, and A Gun Called Tension all make appearances next to heavyweights like Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, and Death Cab For Cutie, and, like their RCRD LBL tracks that we've assembled after the break, the game is 100% free of charge. Download it at the iPhone App Store.

FEATURED: The Press Have A Release Party Tomorrow (03/06) In Brooklyn

A few weeks ago we dropped some new jams from the very awesome band The Press, and in that post we mentioned the band would be playing a special show in Brooklyn for the release of their new seven-inch, "Master". Well, those details have finally surfaced, and we can let you know that the show will happen tomorrow, March 6th, at 99 South 6th St. in Williamsburg. Things kick off at 9PM and there's an after-party next door at the Foosball-endowed East River Bar. Dubstep producer Nate Mars will be spinning. Full flyer after the jump.

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Cruel Black Dove - Wasting (The Vandelles Remix)

(Photo: Naomi Ramirez)
When we last caught up with Brooklyn rock troupe Cruel Black Dove, they were hooking up a bumpy remix of their single "Love Song" from Gregory Shiff. Now they're back with another killer refix in hand, this one a noise-drenched industrial take on "Wasting" from fellow Brooklynites The Vandelles. Under showers of high-frequency noise, the snares sound like Gatling guns and the bass in little more than a squirmy, hyper-distorted mess, making this the dirtiest tune we've ever heard from CBD and a welcome addition to their growing collection of remixes. On Saturday, the band will be linking up with some RCRD LBL pals for a gig at the Mercury Lounge, sharing a bill with the always-terrific Blacklist, Mahogany, Home Video, and The Depreciation Guild. Our Creative Director Elliot will also be spinning records in-between bands, so expect lots of RCRD LBL-approved vibes in the air that night. The Vandelles remix, along with tunes from the other bands playing on Saturday, is below.
Sounds like: A Place To Bury Strangers, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine
