Woodhands kicked off the 2008 Crankworx festival in Whistler this past Saturday - and WHAT a great time we all had! First they played on the main stage at 2 - followed by an awesome set by Edmonton's the Shout Out Out Out Out.
At night, Kokanee threw a huge late night bash and Dan Werb showed off his keytar hero skills to all the lovely Kokanee Glacier Girls while Paul Banwatt busted out some P. Diddy (Puffy, Puff Daddy, whatever).
Thanks so much to everyone who made this past weekend such a blast!

Before their was Fairmont - Jake Fairley was known as - well - Jake Fairley. Recognized as a key force in the growing Canadian electronic music scene, Jake Fairley's profile has been growing exponentially over the past few years.
A review of Jake’s “Boozing and Losing” 12” in XLR8R magazine claimed it had “possibly the fattest bass line I have ever heard”.
Nightstick - the first single from Jake's Touch Not The Cat album is sure to give you a taste of the raw & gritty live show. Jake Fairley live is a sweaty, drunken monster and pure party fuel. Shut up, drink and dance, put your hands up, and scream!
The Acorn will be hitting the road this fall and heading across the western states - from LA to Chicago. Dates will be announced soon! (promise!)
Until then - if you haven't seen it yet - then their new video for the single Flood Pt. 1 is something you should definitely check out! It was directed by Christopher Mills (Modest Mouse, the White Stripes, and many more!) and is in it's own right a beautiful peice of art.

Laura Barrett and The Acorn's Rolf Klausener both played awesome shows this past weekend at '08 Sappy Fest in Sackville, New Brunswick! Laura will be heading out on the road very soon in support of her new album (more details to follow later this week) and The Acorn will be touring the UK and the US west coast this fall. We'll post the dates as soon as we can!

The PITCHFORK MUSIC FESTIVAL was this past weekend in Chicago! Slim Twig was invited down for his first ever US performance at the official after party at Chicago's Famous Empty Bottle. If you missed out we've got some video for you that we think you should definatly check out!
Oh and side note - Slim Twig also stars along side Juno's Ellen Page in Bruce McDonald's film The Tracy Fragments which is conveniently out now on DVD. Be sure to check it out!
Back in 2006 (I know SO long ago) we released Cities In Dust's debute (and unfortunatly only) album Night Creatures. 4 guys from Hamilton, ON - Zach Frank (vocals), Craig Nordemann (bass), Simon Toye (guitar) and Matt Winters (drummer) - with one monsterous sound! So much so that Night Creatures was named by Exclaim! Magazine as one of the top 10 Punk albums of 2006. Unfortunately they are no longer together, but their music lives on - infact their song "Chop Chop You're Dead" was included in the film SUPERBAD - So get you're McLovin' on and check out the track 'Beautiful'!
