Download: E Reece, A New Breed

Downtown LA's hip-hop scene is developing strong so we wanted to keep it local. On a recent trip to a new sneaker emporium we met E Reece who caught us up on his new music, college circuit tour (with his band Core Elements) and TV placements.
This east coast transplant has been making moves in LA and has caught the attention of reality show dons Bunim/Murray Productions, who've used his joints on "The Real World" (MTV) and "Old School" (VH1). But, as we're still in NCAA season we wanted to share E Reece's drum and bass-inspired rap tune "Just Move" Bautista remix that is featured in 2K Sports' College Hoops 2008 (available for Xbox 360, Xbox Live and Playstation 3). This game is for the real rap heads and features music from Deltron 3030, Dilated Peoples, J Dilla & MF Doom, Guilty Simpson, Jurassic 5 and Percee P. Check out full details on the OST here.
"Taking hip hop’s vibe back to its foundation, when it was fun and not so much about how much money you had in your pockets or how many girls you had." Check out his EPs here or on the Lyricist Lounge mixtape "The Legendary Lyricist Lounge International Mixtape Series Vol. 1". E Reece was also kind enough to offer 2 downloads to SEEN readers, including the aforementioned "Just Move".
Download: Tigarah takes over games, the world
We heard some ripping tracks from a Japanese female MC on NPR about a year ago, and reaffirmed her skills when we checked out her myspace. Tigarah is not the only Japanese MC influenced by America, and not the first female MC who dropped rhymes over Brazilian Baile Funk (M.I.A. takes that one), but her unique Japanese flow over coked-up baile beats is still a sound all its own. She's spent time in Sao Paulo and Rio where she collaborated with local musicians. In 2003, she met her long-time producer, Mr. D in Rio and self-released an E.P. and toured Asia and Europe.
Her new album, "Revolution", is scheduled for a spring 2008 release featuring the singles “Roppongi-Dori” and "Color, Culture, Money, Beauty". The latter is featured in EA’s FIFA 2008 game and apparently a new EA boxing game has a Japanese character who’ll step to the ring to another Tigarah jam. Check out these 2 tracks, including a never released remix by Mr. D for free download, before she storms out the gate in 08.

Film: The art of the trailer. And Donkey Kong.

Today marks the release of "The King Of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" on DVD. For those who missed it in its limited theatrical run, it's a documentary on the epic showdown between the world's greatest Donkey Kong player who refers to himself in the third person (his record stood for 20 years) squaring off against a hapless middle school teacher who desperately needs the win to get his life back together. If this all sounds a little melodramatic - that's because it is. And it's real. This was one of the best reviewed movies of last year and there will almost certainly be a wait on Netflix so get on that shit now. Here's the trailer (love the knock-off of The Who's "Baba O'Riley" by the way), if this doesn't get your blood flowing you should check your pulse.
