It's been a while since we'd heard from The Sounds but these days, the Swede rockers are red hot and suddenly seemingly everywhere. Their third album Crossing The Rubicon, in which they collaborated with Mark Saunders, James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins, Tinted Windows) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Tinted Windows), is out on June 2nd. Their solo tour dates in the US are already mostly sold out. Did we mention later this summer they are opening for No Doubt? Right. So before they become a household name, here's a track to appreciate; "Dorchester Hotel" leads with Maja Ivarsson's intent, sexpot voice, angelic guitar plucks, and drilling drum progression before launching into a powerpop chorus.

Yeah. Where Brooklyn At. The Brooklyn rockers Hello Tokyo have allowed their song "Kiss Me Goodbye" to be remixed into sun-blissed lo-fi waves by Vandaleyes (the DJ moniker for the drummer, Sam Broe, who's been mixing since he's 14.) The result is perfect for chilling on a Brookyln rooftop circa 2 pm on a Saturday that feels like a Sunday, lethargic limps soaking in sun rays and sangria. FYI Hello Tokyo has a new album "Sell The Stars" out.

VIDEO: MINK - Get It Right
So you may have been wondering, when we featured our buddies- the rockers MINK - a month or so ago, why they were wearing such interesting zootsuits in the photo above. Well, they've just released their newest video to "Get It Right"- and it explains it all. Check it out and feel free to giggle with the beat. The remix by the Spankrock DJs, Devlin and Darko, of "Talk to Me" is also below. Sweet.

The Mint Chicks have attitude- feisty and furious at all times- whether on-stage or off. Um, to give you a perspective, that shot is of the lead singer hanging from the bars above a stage in Auckland. So we're considering ourselves lucky that the all-male noise/powerpop/punk/ band recently moved from New Zealand to Portland, Oregon. The song "Welcome To Nowhere" has ska-punk energy before it receeds into dark, metal distortion mid-song. Warning: If played loud, it may kill the cat.

DOWNLOAD: Death By Kite- Himmelfahrtskommando and Bhf. Asta

Grimmy thrash pop experimentation is going off in basement bars in Denmark in rebellion from the dreamy, ambient sounds of neighboring islanders Jose Gonzalez and Sigur Ros. Death By Kite is a prime example. If the song name "Himmelfahrtskommando" doesn't explain exactly how the band feels, their Myspace sums it up: "We are dancing on knives here.” "Bhf. Asta," has scrambling punk 'tude, while the teething snare and delay-drenched guitar intro in "Himmelfahrtskommando" solidifies the band's Interpol/Joy Division comparisons.
Oh- and for your Danish German vocab lesson of the day: "Himmelfahrtskommando" means "suicide command." (We had bets going it meant really beastly drop-dead smelling thing. Good to know we weren't incredibly off.)
