These guys really are something live. How does one describe something as sprawling as Pivot? I suppose showing them a video of them doing what they do is a good start... enjoy.
Originally formed in late nineties Australia, Pivot have until recently remained hidden from the international radar. With their first album released in 2005 (the locally acclaimed ‘Make Me Love You’) multi-instrumentalist brothers Laurenz and Richard Pike sensed it was time for new things. The addition of Perth born/London-based Dave Miller in 2006, and the subsequent departure of the original line up, sparked a period of intense creative activity, resulting in a new band, a new album and dreams of the beyond….
Cinematic in feel and progression, Nothing Hurts Machine starts in one place and ends in another through a series of seamless and driving changes. Echoes of Vangelis slip in-between post-punk propelling guitar riffs and glitchy sample-tweaking. Lush, Jarre-esque pads drone beneath sparse drums and programmed ticks, while a lead melody wanders in and out of the atmospherics. We hope you enjoy this premiere, and stay tuned - there will be more to ingest as we get closer to the release of O Soundtrack My Heart.
