Those familiar with the iPhone have probably heard of Tap Tap Revenge, the Guitar Hero-like rhythm game that's been one of the most popular applications for Apple's mobile platform. Both Nine Inch Nails and Weezer put out custom versions last year, and this week developers Tapulous released Tap Tap Revenge 2.0, a second, updated incarnation featuring more than a handful of RCRD LBL artists amongst its 150 playable tracks. Kid Sister, SKEW, Thieves Like Us, Crayonsmith, Time Machine, Pop Noir, Streelab, Meanest Man Contest, Lemonade, and A Gun Called Tension all make appearances next to heavyweights like Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, and Death Cab For Cutie, and, like their RCRD LBL tracks that we've assembled after the break, the game is 100% free of charge. Download it at the iPhone App Store.

The king of action is taking it to the next level for 2008. Jerry "Pirates" Bruckheimer is mixing films with music in his own way, but not how you might think. His production company has done a deal with that channel that used play music videos, MTV, to create a new video games studio in try and tap into Bruckheimer's cash pipeline.

This ambitious extension to the Bruckheimer empire will develop and sell video games for whichever gaming platform is hot. Not content with creating TV and film franchises that spawn video games, the future might be creating a game that could eventually turn into a film or TV series. Uh, actually, Jerry's already making a film of Ubisoft's hit game, Prince of Persia.

MTV Networks says it'll invest over $500 million on video games and interactive entertainment. For Bruckheimer, that's about the cost of one swashbuckling film. Expect the results of the deal to begin hitting the shelves in 2009 when Bruckheimer Productions goes multiplatform: cinema, DVD, TV, Xbox, PS3, PC...
