PREMIERE: Lauren Pritchard - Stuck (Various Production Remix)

Lauren Pritchard's bio reads like a Lifetime movie. Originally from Jackson, Tennessee, she moved to Los Angeles at 15, played keys and sang back ups for a bunch of unremarkable bands before eventually finding herself homeless and taken in by, of all people, Lisa Marie Presley. She landed next in New York, cast in the soon-to-be-huge, Duncan Sheik-scored musical Spring Awakening. She left that behind for a music career, which sent her, finally, to London, where she wrote an album with producer Eg White called Wasted In Jackson and signed a deal for its release with Island. "Stuck" is from that album, and Various Production's remix, with its soap opera strings and soft touch piano, sounds as cinematic as her back story.

Don't know what angle to go with here. I could talk about how the fact Florence always sounds like a wailing widow means her vocals are perfect for playing the role of anonymous diva to club remixes' throbbing machismo (by The xx, Seiji, Boy 8-Bit and now Breakage). Alternatively I could talk about how it's Friday, and that means this song will have you gagging for the night like a dog does for steak. Do what you like with this because Breakage certainly has, revving up his dubstep steamroller and flattening the track into something as irresistible as it is thuggy.

Sounds Like: Pendulum, Caspa, retro club hits compilations from the future

PREMIERE: Rob Threezy - They're Coming

Is dubstep becoming an irrelevant blanket term? What do we call this? Breakbeatstep? It has the jowly synth that sounds like lethal wet vac and the cut-time swing, but all those extraneous rhythms are confusing our classification-prone brains. Perhaps mathstep is more appropriate. The source of this befuddling masterpiece–Rob Threezy's new EP for T&A, Let's Go Ravers–came out yesterday and is conveniently coppable at either iTunes or Amazon.

And now we've got another club mantra stuck in our brains. Thanks Twizzle! At least we can make some sort of weird squeegee sound with our voices when we sing this one in the shower, subway, kitchen, whatever. "Skydiving" was produced Greenmoney, but this version is from dubstep newcomer SRC is all aflutter with chripy synths, snare cracks, and stomach-gouging bass. It sounds...stickier than the original.

I can only imagine that Starkey was bullied by subtlety when he was a kid, because he seems constantly on a mission to punish the stuff now, firing up The Constellations' "Setback" into one of those monumental, dub-wise and synth-heavy brutes he's becoming renowned for.

Sounds Like: Joker, a 'purple wow' Pendulum, Red Hot Chili Peppers in a haunted house

EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Delphic - Doubt (Doc Daneeka's All For Space Grime)

Away from the neanderthal swing of a million Gallagher-lads, Delphic are citizens of that other Manchester - the one that gave the world New Order and The Hacienda, A Guy Called Gerald and N-Trance. Or, to paraphrase: they'd rather dance than fight. Following this earlier attempt by Ramadanman, Doc Daneeka again meddles with Delphic's synths to create something more bass-heavy, without sacrificing the track's cosmic glide.

Sounds Like: Hard House Banton, Ramadanman, Deadboy

The original version of "Luv Deluxe" is ostensibly emotive new wave–think Flashdance as reimagined by Junior Boys. It really flies, though, in the hands of Berlin's Scuba, who seems perpetually posted up at techno and dubstep's dark, confusing intersection, both as the captain of the eminent Hotflush label and resident of Berlin's premiere dubstep night, SUB:STANCE (held inside techno mecca Berghain). He's sunken the original's sunset keys into meaty, propellant breaks, suffusing radiant warmth over a cold, unfailing pulse. The entire "Luv Deluxe" single, with additional versions from n-type, Jay Shepherd and others, is out now via Modus.

Sounds like: Martyn, Shackleton, Appleblim

And there you were thinking "Idioteque" was Kid A's club banger... Sbtrkt's reworking of awfully familiar soundbites re-imagines late Nineties indietronica as something brave enough to take influence from drum 'n bass. It's like Animal Collective and Zomby hooking up, but ten years previous. Except not. Because it's now.

Sounds Like: Zomby, driving around in cars at night, Radiohead x Ray Keith
