In musician Ivan Evangelista, Jihae ("jee-heh") has found an appealing vocal equal; he's got the male equivalent of her luscious, husky voice and simulates the same sort of seductively slurred lyrics. As they sing lazy and lax about sushline on their faces, they've revive same 'lovesick' mood like the late 1960's Serge Gainsbourg/ Jane Birkin stream-of-consious duet "Je T'aime Mon Amor". Except with gitched out electronica and wave-like synths in the background, it's got a distinct modern pulse. Um...and unlike Birkin-Gainsbourg, there's no simulated organism.

You've probably never chilled on the beaches of another planet, overlooking the vast space that is the Milky Way Galaxy, enjoying the fact that it's just you, your thoughts, and the stars. Chances are, you probably never will either. However, thanks to Flying Lotus’ remix of Reefer’s “Let It Go” you can at least imagine you can. Reefer is one-half Nick Thorburn (of Islands, The Unicorns fame) and one-half Daddy Kev, and their combined vibe is pure down-tempo, hip-hop goodness. Their debut album—the self-titled Reefer, available Oct. 14 (via Alpha Pup)—was composed on the Maui shorelines which not only explains the tropical undertones, but also the innocuous Ecco the Dolphin sample used.

Um if you like Bjork, you're gonna feel warm and fuzzy about this new find- Elsaine. It's the gift of Peruvian Elsieanne Caplette who channels Karen O in fashion, Sade in jazzy spirit, and Bjork in vocals. Teamed with Canadian drummer Stephane Sotto, Elsieanne crafts minimalist atmospheric landscapes using synths and keyboards. But it is her voice that serves as the most delectable instrument- whispered, lush, crystalline. The result? Elsiane is to music what Scandanavian minimalist furniture is to design.
