If you don't have anything going on next Tuesday in New York you might want to pay attention. We've been hooked up with two tickets to go see D.C. rap phenom Wale at the Highline Ballroom, where he'll be sharing the stage with RCRD LBL faves Kid Cudi, Colin Monroe, Nick Catchdubs, and special guest DJ Mark Ronson. If you want a shot at winning the pair, sign up for our newsletter right here and then e-mail contests@rcrdlbl.com with the subject "WALE." We'll choose a winner on Tuesday morning. Full flyer after the jump. Don't sleep on this!

For our one-year anniversary, we reached out to some of the people and artists that we work to ask them to create a playlist of tunes from our catalog. We got some great ones back, and we'll be posting them throughout the rest of the week. As always, these are embeddable on other blogs, websites, etc. so share them around and stay tuned for more.
Today we're publishing selections from Kim Schifino, drummer and one-half of Brooklyn's DIY dance-punk titans Matt And Kim. We world premiered their first tune in two years back in August, and now they've saddled up with the FADER label to release their new album Grand in 2009. We're also running a great contest around this playlist. If you embed it on your blog and send a link to contests@rcrdlbl.com with the subject "MATT AND KIM", you'll be entered to win a custom-made Christmas card from the band. Seriously, they could be making YOU a one-of-a-kind Christmas greeting, so spread this guy around, send over the links, and we'll choose a winner on December 17th.

The original version of Findlay Brown's "I Had A Dream" (hear it at his MySpace) ends with trumpets, saxes, pianos, and strings wailing hard; huge stereophonic bombast to end what is actually a pretty delicate song. Today we're offering up an exclusive download of the sparer acoustic version, which strips all of that instrumentation away in favor of Findlay's halting voice and steady acoustic. While this is the only place you can grab that version, the original will appear on his new album Love Will Find You, due in 2009 and recorded with producer Bernard Butler, who used to front a little band called Suede. Also make sure to grab Pilooski's killer edit of Findlay's cover of "Promised Land," the house classic from producer Joe Smooth. Dude goes deep!
We're throwing a little contest around these tracks, as we've been gifted with some extremely limited edition wax from Findlay to give away. If you embed the single track player of "I Had A Dream" on your blog and send the link to contests@rcrdlbl.com with the subject "FINDLAY", you'll win a very rare seven-inch of "All That I Have," produced by Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve (Erol Alkan + Richard Norris) and mixed by Kramer (Galaxie 500, Luna, Low, etc.) There are only 500 of these in the world!
Sounds like: Ed Harcourt, Sondre Lerche, Tim Williams

Over the past year, Flavorpill.com have been throwing dope parties at the planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, to the excitement of the whole NYC scene. This week, our buddies at Fool’s Gold are at the forefront, as A-Trak and the Cool Kids will be DJing the festivities, alongside a live performance by Chicago female rap star Kid Sister.
