Classic Video: "Goonies R Good Enough"

Think back to the days when Tears For Fears and Poison ruled the MTV airwaves. There was an amazing period in the 80's when music videos were chalk full of midgets, big hair, and absurd story lines that may or may not have had anything to do with the actual song.  Some videos are forever burned into our memories like "Take on Me", "Thriller", Hungry Like a Wolf", and "Whip It", but most are often forgotten.  We feel it is our duty to remind you of some of the most overlooked videos from the past.  In this edition of the Classic Video series, it is our honor to present you with Cyndi Lauper's video for "Goonies R Good Enough".

Pretty much everyone has seen the Goonies (and if you are one of the few people remaining on earth that hasn't, Netflix that shit!), but few have actually seen the gem of a video that accompanies the film's title track.  The song appears in the movie when the Goonies make the fateful decision to tie up Brand and go after One Eyed Willies rich stuff.  Cyndi Lauper can be seen briefly on the TV set in the living room.

The 7 minute plus video for "Goonies R Good Enough" tells the story of a downtrodden girl (Lauper) and her family's struggle to maintain ownership of their big city gas station.  When the Iron Sheik and Rowdy Rowdy Piper show up claiming they have just purchased the land from underneath Cyndi and her family, weird things start happening.  Featuring a bevy of professional wrestlers, the cast of Goonies, and one of our all time favorite music video cameos (watch the video to find out who it is), this is what a soundtrack video should look like.

We should also mention that the folks over at Mezco Toyz have released a line of Goonies action figures to fill the void that the failed Goonies sequel has left in your in your heart.
