Bio: Junip was formed in Gothenburg, Sweden around 1997. The trio had all been previously playing in different band which were mostly punk/hardcore oriented music. These ... (more) days, José Gonzalés (guitar, vocals) has a flourishing career on his own, but Junip is still very much an active band. In addition to José, Junip consists of Elias Araya (drums) and Tobias Winterkorn (organ, moog). The sound is familiar to those who have listened to José, but added to the mix on top of his nylon stringed guitar and characteristic voice are organs, analog synths and drums. The songs are often dynamic, melodic and shadowy. Last spring Junip recorded some new songs and two of these can be found here: The melancholy folk rock of ”Chickens” and ”Azaleadalen”, a moody instrumental with a distinct Scandinavian touch. (less)
