Bio: Ice Palace’s freshman album of 2007, Bright Leaf Left, was critically acclaimed by writers from The Onion, to the Village Voice. The album’s songs ended ... (more) up in regular rotation on AAA Station 89.3 The Current in Minneapolis and immediately gained a strong Minneapolis following along with a growing national audience. This independently released album was promoted on a dime, but the substance of the album carried it to # 122 on the CMJ charts. Wonder Subtly Crushing Us is the next phase in the ongoing development of the band’s lead singer and songwriter, Adam Sorensen, and the culmination of roughly 20 years of writing and creativity. After assembling some of the best talent in Minneapolis, in some of the most unexpected recording spaces (from Minneapolis’ Sound Gallery studio to a bedroom closet), the album was handed to Craig Minowa of Cloud Cult at his Earthology Records Studio for final mixing and production. Fifteen years ago, Sorensen and Minowa spent a night of mutual respect writing and recording a song together on a four-track. After years of separate endeavors, the two have re-aligned on this album. Combining the nuanced lyricism of Sorensen, with the innovative music of the eclectic ensemble of musicians, and the creative conception of Minowa resulted in an album worthy of attention. (less)
