Bio: DANDI WIND was started in Vancouver, Canada by Dandilion Wind Opaine (vocals) and Szam Findlay (music) following Dandi's collaboration with Szam as a sculptor and ... (more)
animator accompanying his instrumental music.
Now based in Montreal they have released 4 eps/singles and a full length album (14 songs / 10 videos) titled "Concrete Igloo" - which highlights Dandi's animations in addition to the music. After self-releasing the LP on their own Todtenschlaf Records it has been reissued on SLUM and in Europe on Alt:Delete. Due later this year is a 2nd full length album on SLUM titled "Yolk Of The Golden Egg" and a new EP entitled "Fresh Humiliation" on Tell Me Records.
Due to tireless touring Dandi Wind have played every major city in Europe, the US, Canada and even Mexico. Most notably touring for 20 odd shows with The Horrors throughout Europe in spring following 5 separate UK/Europe jaunts in the past year. (Dandi Wind remix of The Horrors "Draw Japan" just released on 7inch via Universal). This was followed by a massive US tour from coast to coast.
Their now legendary show at SxSw last year resulted in damage fines and a picture on the front of the Austin Chronicle. Additionally memorable gigs include those at infamous venues such as the Hammersmith Palais, ICA and Scala in London, in Mexico City and Guadalajara and playing at Fabric - which was oversold to 2300 people with Erol Alkan from Trash djing.
Dandi Wind have also played shows with The Klaxons, The Presets, Final Fantasy, Simian Mobile Disco, Shychild,
Les Georges Leningrad, Broken Social Scene, Erase Errata and Planning to Rock.
In addition to doing live sessions for BBC Radio and WFMU, Dandi Wind have been featured in a plethora of worldwide press such as NME, Dazed & Confused, Another, NEO2, Oyster, Plan B, Pig, Huge (Tokyo), Dummy, Another Man, LA Weekly, Miami New Times, The Austin Chronicle + 3 consecutive issues of I-D in the UK + ARTE tv in France. Furthermore; on top of having a track on the acclaimed Digital Penetration compilation Dandi herself appeared on the cd cover.
