  • Bio: No fair, it's Bad Dudes. Risen from the
ashes of So Cal weirdo-rock outfit
    Miracle Chosuke and augmented with
members of some of LA's most exciting
(and polarizing) bands, Bad Dudes picks
    up where Chosuke left off.
    Incorporating blistering guitar riffage,
    Devo-esque synth lines, shimmering
    melodies, shifting time signatures and
    impossibly tight drumming, Bad Dudes
    expand upon Chosuke's hypertech synthpunk
sound and conjure up what devoted
    followers have dubbed "party-prog."

    Bad Dudes epitomize face-melting cerebral
    energy, while maintaining
body-moving hooks. "Body over mind" is
a common mantra at Bad Dudes
practice. With a few highly coveted 7"

singles and a debut LP already
circulating on the underground, the band
    will release their follow-up
full-length, Eat Drugs, April 15th on
    Retard Disco (Hawnay Troof, Epsilons).

Eat Drugs ventures into slightly more
    accessible territory without losing
the teeth and muscle of their self-titled
2006 debut. Songs like the opener
    "Mjölner" and "Secret Protector" are
    aggressive math rock instrumentals true
to the spirit of their previous output, and
are sure to win over fans of
bands like Battles or The Fucking
    Champs. "Heterosaucer" heads into
    psych-pop territory, while the angular
hooks of "Suez" (a song about Jaws)
flirt with the smart punk template laid

out by bands like Mission of Burma
and the Buzzcocks. The anthemic title
track "Eat Drugs" is classic rock
taken to a neo-futuristic level, with its
    relentless drums, hot wiry guitar
    riffs and sing along verses.

Bad Dudes will surprise you every time
you see them, most likely at The
Smell, where they can very often be seen
and heard sharing the floor with
locals The Mae Shi, No Age, Abe Vigoda,
    HEALTH, Bipolar Bear and many
others. Keeping it all in the extended
    family, Eat Drugs features
appearances by members of Ozma, Upsilon
Acrux, Silver Daggers, and Epsilons. (less)
