EXCLUSIVE NEW DOWNLOAD: Railcars - Passion Of St. Edmund (Rebirth) + Castles

Posted 6/9/2009 8:59 AM by Samuel Duke

Tags: noise, pop, electronic

San Francisco musician Aria Jalali–who records dense, rainbow-noise music under the name Railcars–has a new EP, Cathedral With No Eyes, due August 4th on Stumparumper Records. "Passion Of St. Edmund (Rebirth)" and "Castles" both stem from the release, more grating and crammed than the pop fringes he explored on the Cities Vs. Submarines EP. Which is not to say there aren't some serious melodies here, just that they've been beaten to a bloody pulp by dude's army of distortion pedals. The charm is in the mess.

Sounds like: Dan Deacon, Professor Murder, HEALTH

OMG. I just discovered this

OMG. I just discovered this band last night when they opened for Handsome Furs. Unbelievable live performance!

This band sounds awful.

This band sounds awful.

well yeah, this whole genre

well yeah, this whole genre isn't exactly for everyone/mainstream consumption. just the people who are into it, i think. myself included, fortunately. long live the no-fi revolution! although, i think of all the similar bands - TNV, wavves, blank dogs, etc. railcars is my favorite, just because it has the most layers, and really the only no-fi but heavily electronic band.

railcars is to mainstream

railcars is to mainstream indie music what nirvana was to hair metal.

lets just hope this jalali character kills himself before he starts sucking.
