It's about time some bands started sounding like they could be opening for Devo on their Freedom of Choice tour or Sparks supporting No. 1 in Heaven. Maybe we just needed the Ed Banger crew to make it cool for kids to get down again, but NewVillager released a 7" on TwoSyllable Records yesterday that is straight up dance music for kids who like rock n roll. Opening with a drum beat that belongs at a pep rally, "Rich Doors" boldly introduces this Cali/Brooklyn band to the world, proudly proclaiming, "You got the right sound, Rich enough to take 'em down." Dance party gauntlet thrown.
