The single originally released two years earlier, this clip from Jimmy O'Neill's Shindig! variety show in 1965 is tops when it comes to televised "Be My Baby." That thirty-second opening shot is smooth smooth smooth and the way Nedra Talley and Estelle Bennett roll out from behind their curtains shortly thereafter is kinda perfect. Did you know the Ronettes opened for the Beatles? Has a better drumbeat ever been recorded? What in the hell happened to Phil Spector? Why is this song so good?

PS Please listen for a young girl screaming alone at about the 1:50 mark. It will make your blood freeze.
