Squarepusher is many things. From acid to trip-hop to drum and bass to the dreaded IDM tag and so many things in-between, Thomas Jenkinson continually shreds out glitchy nuggets of schizo insanity. There’s a new Squarepusher album coming out October 27 through our good friends at Warp called called Just A Souvenir (his eleventh) and in his words it “started as a daydream about watching a crazy, beautiful rock band play an ultra-gig.” We’ve had that dream before. It’s pretty epic. But, in our dream the band was some mythical line-up that involved Joe Strummer, Jerry Garcia, John Bonham and other dead geniuses. It sounds like the band in Squarpusher’s dream was Lightning Bolt, who are not dead and are certifiably awesome.
