Johnny Dark split Junior Boys before their debut album was released to wide acclaim. So it's entirely forgivable that Stereo Image, his new group with synth-popper San Serac, bears a strong resemblance to Last Exit-era Junior Boys while maintaining its own identity. While the JBs have trended towards smooth and emotionally drippy pop tunes, Stereo Image leaves their edges jagged and incorporate an enigmatic, sunglasses at night mood. Still, the two groups are friendly rivals as evinced by the inclusion of Stereo Image's "Dark Chapter" on Junior Boys' "Body Language Vol. 6" mix.
