DOWNLOAD: Okkervil River - Lost Coastlines

Okkervil River deal in American gothic pastiche, spewing operatic about casualties and losses and then wrapping them in the warm Appalachian flannel of mandolins, acoustics, and upright pianos. Like Flannery O’Connor stories around a campfire, their music is tragic and weird but ultimately says, “That’s life. Just go with it.” Good old American optimism in the face of certain calamity.
The Austin band’s sixth album, The Stand Ins, hits shelves tomorrow through Jagjaguwar—P4K’s already given it the nod—and below you’ll find the opener, “Lost Coastlines”. Continuing the tradition of great epics on Side A Track 1 of Okkervil albums the guys have come as close as they ever will to sounding like The Temptations in less than six minutes, gratuitous “La’s” included.
Sounds like: The Temptations, Motel Motel, Band Of Horses
