You may not know Pierre de Reeder yet, but you probably know his day job—bassist for indie rock band to the stars Rilo Kiley. After playing bass in Rilo since the band’s conception in the early ‘90s, it seems like Pierre is concentrating on his solo project. “The Long Conversation”, off of his debut LP The Way That it Was (out on 8/12), is a beautiful acoustic guitar piece in the vein of the late, great Elliott Smith, with Pierre’s soft voice soaring above the gentle strumming. Basically, this song is helping us chill out right now and forget our aching hangover, and that, friends, is all you can really ask for. Magical.
