A medic in the U.S. Army with time in Iraq to his name, Joshua Morrison's backstory doesn't exactly fall in line with your more biblical singer-songwriter tropes. And although that sort of thing shouldn't matter if the jams succeed (and Morrison's most definitely do), it's very much braided into every chord change and lyrical turn. His is a longing worth trying to understand. A son of the Pacific Northwest, Morrison's acoustic musings sound like aural snapshots of what most of us might think on were we away for the same reasons he was: home.
