There's a lot to love in the math-y indie rock of Chicago's Bound Stems, though the photo above should give you a pretty good idea. It feels like any time a guitar rock band makes its way out of the indie rock ghetto, there has to be a gimmick to ride in on or an anthem to take off with. Poppycock. Try: Barnstorming melodies, hand-claps that sizzle, lyrical sledgehammers, lots of smiling, enthusiasm on tape and RIGHTEOUS JAMS.

P.S. How beautiful is dude on the right's mane? Good heavens!
