We recently caught up with Brian and David from our newest obsessions Apes & Androids to have a chat about what's coming up for them and such. They're playing a show at Hiro tomorrow, which is free with rsvp to www.gbh.tv, so make sure to come by. Oh, and if you'd like to take photos for us and you're over 21, email us your info at info@rcrdlbl.com and we'll publish your shots on the site. Take a gander at the interview after the jump, to find out what A&A have to say about their RCRD LBL single "Creepy Girls", performing "Thriller" on Halloween, and the artists that have been inspiring them lately.

Catch us up to speed on what Apes and Androids have been up to lately...

We're writing new stuff and rehearsing pretty hard for some shows we've got coming up. We'll be going to LA and London soon and a festival in Florida. Pretty psyched.

How did your first RCRD LBL single "Creepy Girls" come about? Tell us a little bit about the song, the process, etc.

“Creepy Girls” is more or less a break up song written a long time ago. We'd been performing it for a while and waiting for the right time to put it on tape. When it came time to record, the whole thing was done in two days. That's not usually how we work, but this time it just all came out on first takes and everyone recording just kept nodding and saying, ‘Yes yes!’ It was pretty awesome.

Your live shows are very acclaimed, and with good reason, they have a very high production value, especially for a DIY band. Can you talk a little about the "team" behind them? How do you orchestrate everything?

This is just the shit we talk about during breaks at rehearsal or when we're just hanging out—‘What if we did "Thriller" on Halloween? Oh and what if we played along to the video? Oh and what if we made the video 3D and gave everyone glasses? Oh oh and zombie dancers!’ And then basically daring ourselves to try and do it all.

Who are some musicians and artists making music now that you are excited by and feel our readers need to know about?

I just got the new Forms record and that's awesome. Emilie Simon is super rad if you haven't heard her yet. Oh and our friend Alana Amram just put out a new record that's really great.

What kind of stuff do you guys have planned in the near future?

We're playing Hiro Ballroom tomorrow (2/28) Then we'll be back in NYC late April to do another big show. In between we'll be taking some trips to Paris, moving apartments and doing the fucking laundry.
