We saw Yelle play Knitting Factory a few days ago (video evidence above, filmed by our tertiary homegirl Abbey Braden for Punk Photo and 'Sup) and it blew us off our asses, to say the least. In case you've missed the bandwagon, Yelle is a great French MC who built her budding career on "Je Veux Te Voir", a vicious diss track targeting her ex-boyfriend Cuizinier from Parisian rap collective TTC (the very first line totally attacks his, um... manhood, just to give you an idea). Far from being a one hit wonder, Yelle is innovative, both on record and on stage: her performance featured live drums and percussion from her collaborator Grand Marnier and keys from her producer TEPR. To give you a feel, Popdrivel featured some live tidbits of the girl in action.

Yelle at Popdrivel

wait, Cuizinier was her

wait, Cuizinier was her ex-boyfriend? i never knew that..

Ahahah, today is Cuizinier's

Ahahah, today is Cuizinier's birthday and this might be the icing on the cake. Sorry to disappoint but no, Cuiz and Yelle as an item? Never happened. In fact, it might just be the reason for her diss track which sounds, to French ears, like a bitter booty call from a jilted lover. But you know what, we're the good guys, we'd never mess around with our webmaster's girlfriend. Just ask GrandMarnier.
