RCRD LBL braved jet lag and caught Big Day Out while the festival toured Sydney. Here's a visual diary:

Evidently men's shoe fashion differs in Australia.

New Yorkers' Pete and Nate of Shy Child debating the merits of Australian beer. Or something like that.

Good to know Daniel Johns of Siverchair is alive and well...........down under.

We chatted and bummed a cig from this guy. James Lavelle of U.N.K.L.E.

Our brief chat further confirmed our initial theory that he's pure genius.

Only a festival in Oz would have a wierd chill-out room full of mirrors.

We're betting the guy on the right spent the WHOLE day in there.

Glee. This was taken when the lights dimmed and Arcade Fire walked on main stage.

Two seconds later, the chick in the red shirt started literally bawling......

....probably because of this guy: Win Butler of Arcade Fire.

Or these guys. More Arcade Fire.............

Bjork canceled last minute so Rage Against the Machine headlined the show.

Rage knows how to make quite an entrance.

The guy on the left is REALLY regretting having picked his front row seat next to the devil.

The crowd during the last song of Rage's set. Imagine a vast, quaking sea of sweaty hands.....

and crowd-surfing monkeys.

Yo dudes, Auckland is in New Zealand! It aint part of Australia and the other BDO's aren't just down the coast. Not to pick but, cmon, check your facts.... and geography.

thanks Tequila. you are right...I meant that it starts in NZ and then goes through Oz. ..it does flow from the top of Oz downward and then along the bottom- to end at Perth. Unfortunately I didn't follow the whole spectacle, but good point they aren't all ON the 'coast'. I was born in Sydney, Australia....so I SHOULD be well-educated on my native geography :)
