FEATURED: Delta 5

If you ever find yourself in a position to turn someone onto post-punk as a genre, we highly suggest starting off with Delta 5, who came out of the same Leeds scene in the late ‘70s as Gang of Four did. Unlike some of their contemporaries, Delta 5 are immediately accessible and fun to listen to, sort of the way everyone seems to think The Slits sound (instead of, let’s face it, being kind of a mess). Like all great bands, Delta 5 only released one album, but Kill Rock Stars re-issued a compilation of singles not too long ago, the most recognizable of which is “Mind Your Own Business”, a brilliant song if only because you almost don’t realize there’s no guitar until it kicks in towards the middle. It’s featured today at rock blog Ugly Talented.
