CHECK IT: The Rumble Strips

It was a sad day when UK Northern soul act the Rumble Strips had to cancel their upcoming tour with RCRD LBL-affiliates Cold War Kids: they were slated to play two nights at Webster Hall, and a show like that could have catapulted the Strips to a new level. It's not every day that we encounter a band that can make us grin at the drop of a pin (or entire horn section). The Rumble Strips bring back old school ska (and we mean real ska like The Specials, not grown-men-in-baggy-shorts ska) with a distinct blue-eyed soul vibe. Front man Charlie Waller is the lynchpin of the operation, with acrobatic vocals and a handsome demeanor. Indie blog Carl Sandburg Visits Me In A Dream just featured two songs from the Rumble Strip's debut album Girls and Weather so check it out.
